Adult Correctional Facilities

Core Business

The core business of adult correctional facilities is to provide safe and secure custody, direction and control of offenders, and, to provide programs that address dynamic criminogenic factors to assist with the successful, reintegration of offenders into the community.

Facilities

The division operates the Antigonish Correctional Facility (Antigonish), a leased space opened in 1948; the Cape Breton Correctional Facility (Sydney), opened in 1975; the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility (Dartmouth), opened in 2001; the Cumberland Correctional Facility (Amherst), opened in 1890 and renovated in 1978; and the Southwest Nova Scotia Correctional Facility (Yarmouth), opened in 2004, for adult offenders.
