Crime Prevention

Crime prevention is the concerted effort of individuals, communities, businesses, police services and government agencies working together to address the root causes of crime. It’s important to prevent crime before it occurs by working with community organizations who are involved in creating safer communities. Everywhere in Nova Scotia, communities are taking a pro-active and preventative approach to crime and we are supporting them.

The site will grow in time, with your feedback and support. For now, we're excited to offer a Personal Safety section with practical tips and videos on preventing crime in our own lives, homes and against our family and neighbours. The Community Support section highlights and facilitates the efforts of concerned groups throughout Nova Scotia who are working together to create and forward prevention strategies in their areas. We share just a few examples of these inspirational programs in our Communities in Action section here.
