Time to Fight Crime ... Together

Crime prevention is the concerted effort of individuals, communities, businesses, police services, and government agencies to be actively involved in addressing the root causes of crime so that people are and feel safe and secure in their homes and communities and individuals at risk of being involved with crime are supported in ways to reduce the likelihood of offending.

Promised by our 2007 Crime Strategy Time to Fight Crime Together, our online program will:

  • highlight the networks of crime prevention oriented activities and organizations that are active in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • facilitate in the development of partnerships between crime prevention stakeholders
  • be an educational resource for the public’s use
  • recognize the excellent crime prevention work that is happening in our communities throughout the province.

The site will grow in time, with your feedback and support. For now, we're excited to offer a Personal Safety section with practical tips and videos on preventing crime in our own lives, homes and against our family and neighbours. The Community Support section highlights and facilitates the efforts of concerned groups throughout Nova Scotia who are working together to create and forward prevention strategies in their areas. We share just a few examples of these inspirational programs in our Communities in Action section here.
