Legal Services Articling Program
Articling Program
The Legal Services Division seeks approval each year to hire three second year law students for a summer work term. The Department of Justice supports the Indigenous, Black and Mi’kmaq Initiative at the Dalhousie Law School, and priority is given to selecting one of the three students from that initiative. Provided these students have successfully completed a summer work term with the Legal Services Division and have also graduated from a recognized law school and are eligible for articling in Nova Scotia, it is the intent of the Legal Services Division to offer these students an articling position with the Division.
Interviews, where possible, are conducted in January. The Division has developed an articling program which addresses the various mandatory/discretionary requirements established for admission to the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, including two to three months with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service in their various offices.
The Department of Justice pays the enrollment fee and the fee to enroll in the Nova Scotia Bar Admission's Course.
