Nova Scotia Provincial Police Long Service Award Program

The Nova Scotia Provincial Police Long Service Award Program is a provincial program to recognize police officers who have served in the Province of Nova Scotia consecutively for 15 years and 25 years.

The dedication of service by police officers in Nova Scotia is one to be recognized. The significant contribution police make in helping keep our communities safe will be celebrated by awarding the Police Provincial Long Service Award.

The 2009 Recipients were honoured at a ceremony on October 27, 2009.

2009 Eligibility

Any Police Officer who has served in Nova Scotia for 15 consecutive years or 25 consecutive years as of January 1, 2008 is eligible for the award.

Consideration is given to nominees who have served out of province on secondment. Where consecutive years of service are broken due to out of province secondment(s) the Advisory Committee will review the nomination and provide a recommendation to the Minister of Justice regarding the award of the medal.

Consecutive years of service from the former Halifax Port Authority Police, Military Police or CNR Police, serving in Nova Scotia is considered when calculating eligible years of service.
