Description

On December 3, 2004, Heritage Gas submitted an Environmental Assessment Registration Document for a proposed high pressure distribution steel gas pipeline.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to convey natural gas from the Maritimes & Northeast Pipelines main line near Amherst Head to Amherst. The project consists of construction and operation of a 17.6 km pipeline, two regulator stations, valves and control systems. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2005 with delivery of natural gas beginning by September 2005.

Minister's Decision

On December 29, 2004, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decision (PDF: 60k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.

The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions (PDF: 43k). The proponent is required to obtain all other necessary approvals, permits or authorizations before commencing work on the undertaking.
