Employment Nova Scotia offers a range of Employment Benefits and Support Measures to help Nova Scotians find and maintain employment. Follow the link for each program for detailed information about eligibility criteria, application process and any required forms.

Skills Development provides funding to eligible individuals who require skills training to secure employment. With the financial assistance provided by Skills Development, individuals arrange and pay for their own training.

Skills Up! is a program that offers financial assistance to help eligible African Nova Scotians get the training they need for good jobs. Clients can go to their local employment assistance service provider to be assessed and find out if Skills Up! is the right program for them.

Seasonal Feepayer is a program of Employment Nova Scotia which allows laid off workers to invest in their own training if they choose and continue to draw out their regular Employment Insurance benefits while in training. Since these workers will not receive additional financial support for their training-related costs, they are referred to as "feepayers."

The Feepayer program offers you a chance to attend training while you still qualify to receive your regular EI benefits. You must be prepared to pay your own training expenses.

Job Creation Partnerships is an employment program that supports projects that provide eligible individuals with work experience leading to on-going employment.

Targeted Wage Subsidies is an employment program that provides funding to employers to encourage them to hire individuals whom they would not normally hire in the absence of a subsidy.

Self Employment is an employment program of Employment Nova Scotia that provides financial assistance to eligible individuals to help them create jobs for themselves by starting a business.

Employment Assistance Services is an employment program of Employment Nova Scotia that provides funding to organizations to assist unemployed individuals prepare for, obtain and maintain employment.

Labour Market Partnerships is an employment program that provides financial assistance to organizations to encourage, support and facilitate labour force adjustments and human resource planning activities which are in the public interest.
