This is to advise that Shear Wind Inc.'s Glen Dhu Wind Power project , east of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, will be registered for environmental assessment on August 20, 2008, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.
Shear Wind Inc. is proposing to construct and operate a 60 MW wind energy facility consisting of 30, 2.0 MW wind turbine generators. The Glen Dhu Wind Power Project is located near Barney’s River Station in Pictou and Antigonish Counties. The Proponent anticipates an operational wind farm by 2010, pending permits and approvals.
On October 8, 2008 the Minister of Environment released a decision (PDF: 24k) on this review. The Minister has decided that the registration information is insufficient to allow him to make a decision and that additional information is required in accordance with Section 13 (1)(a) of the Environmental Assessment Regulations.
Public comments were accepted from August 20, 2008 to September 19, 2008. All comments received are available to the public at the Nova Scotia Environment Library, 5th floor, Halifax Office, 5151 Terminal Road.
