Assessment Services

The objective of assessment services is to provide individuals a wide range of both formal and informal career and life assessments as a part of their employability action plan.

Career Assessment Technicians offer both individual and group assessments utilizing a combination of both formal and informal assessment tools and processes such as aptitude testing, life skill academics, non verbal skill development, receptive vocabulary, and auditory discrimination.

What are some specific examples of assessment services that I might be eligible for?

• Nova Scotia Employability Assessment (NSEA)
  This is the employability assessment that all individuals participate in as they become involved with Employment Support Services. It is administered by Employment Support Services Caseworkers and ensures that individuals are able to participate in employability activities. It helps you to look at assets and barriers that may impact on employment and training, identifies any need for further assessment of employability factors and determines an overall action plan towards employability.
• Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
  The process of developing a PLAR portfolio may be a part of the career/life process for individuals. This helps you to identify skills that you already have, and to understand how these skills might help you in job interviews, jobs, volunteer and other life experiences.
