Motor Vehicle Inspection Station Licence

Who Needs This Licence?
  Any garage, service station or car dealer in Nova Scotia who wants to participate in the N.S. Motor Vehicle Inspection Program.

Hours:
Monday & Tuesday:
8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:30 am to 7:00 pm (only Registry of Motor Vehicles services after 4:30)
Saturday and Sunday: all offices and the Call Centre are closed.

Application Forms & Process:
 

You can get an application form by visiting or phoning either of the offices above. The following items must accompany the application: Motor Vehicle Inspection Tester Licence application, zoning confirmation from the municipality, Registry of Joint Stock Companies Certificate and the applicable fee (see Price below). The completed application can be brought to either of the offices above

The application is then processed, and the licence is mailed to the applicant, at the counter, or given to the applicant (if they come to the office) along with their motor vehicle inspection stickers, inspection manual and an official inspection station poster.

Waiting Period:
  The licence is normally processed within 2 to 6 weeks, once all items which must accompany the application have been received, and all requirements are met.
Expiry & Renewal:
 

This licence is valid until December 31 of the calendar year in which it is issued.  It is renewable; the Department will send out a renewal notice  before it expires.

Renewal of the Inspection Station Licence can be done at any Registry of Motor Vehilces office.

Price:  (No tax is charged)
  Initial Application and Annual Renewal:   $116.37
