Mineral Right: Notice of Transfer

Who Needs This Notice of Transfer?
  1. Anyone who wants to transfer a Mineral Exploration Licence from one party to another must have the consent of the Registrar, Mineral and Petroleum Titles, N.S. Department of Natural Resources.
  2. Anyone who wants to transfer a Mineral Exploration: Special Licence, Mining Lease, or Special Mining Lease from one party to another must have the transfer ratified by the Minister of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources.

Application Forms & Process:
An application form (Form No. 1 Notice of Transfer of Mineral Right) can be obtained from the nearest Regional or Area Office of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources or the Registry of Mineral and Petroleum Titles (Registry). When completed, it is submitted to the Registry.

If not already filed, the Transferee is to file documentation (corporate documentation etc.) as outlined by Form #7.

For the transfer of leases: Refer to Mining Engineering Division's Guidelines to Information required to support an application to transfer a mineral right held under a mining lease or special mining lease.

Waiting Period:
Varies:

  • 2 days for good standing licences

  • 2 weeks for good standing leases and special licences

Expiry & Renewal:
This Notice of Transfer does not expire, nor is it renewable.

Price:  (No tax is charged)

Title:   $10.88 per title
Plus Assignment Fee: $5.44 Exploration Licence
Plus Assignment Fee: $54.40 - Special Licence, Mineral Lease or Special Lease or Non-Mineral Registration
