Belliveau announced the establishment of Five Bridge Lakes Candidate Wilderness Area. This 8,266 hectare (20,425 acre) candidate area is located on crown lands on the Chebucto Peninsula, between Highways 103 and 333 in Halifax Regional Municipality.
A public consultation process on this candidate area will be announced later this Fall, providing more details about the candidate area and outlining opportunities for public input.
Before the candidate area is designated, a socio-economic study on the effects of designation will be completed by an independent consultant. This will take into account results of the public consultation. You will have an opportunity to comment on the findings of this study.
