Labour and Workforce Development

The Department of Labour and Workforce Development focuses on labour issues, employment rights and responsibilities, adult learning, apprenticeship training and trade qualification, skill development, public and workplace safety, industry regulation, licensing and pensions.

The new department will support employers in creating safe work environments and in building a highly-skilled and competitive workforce.

Nova Scotia Labour and Workforce Development is also responsible for enforcing safety regulations in the workplace and on much of the equipment, products and services that Nova Scotians use on a daily basis.

Your contacts with government will remain the same in the immediate future.

Nova Scotia School for Adult LearningNova Scotia School for Adult Learning
The Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning (NSSAL) offers programs for adult Nova Scotians who want to improve their literacy skills. Programs are tuition-free and offered at more than 150 sites across the province. Since NSSAL was created, thousands of adults have graduated with their high school diploma.
