Firearm Certification for Hunters |

Who Needs This Certification? |
|
Anyone who wants to hunt with a firearm in Nova Scotia.
One must be 12 years of age or older to get this certification.

Application Forms and Process: |

New hunters wishing to hunt with a firearm must first attend both the Canadian
Firearms Safety Course and the Hunter Education Course before they will
be issued a Wildlife Resources Card showing they have a Firearm Certification.
(Note: these two courses are usually delivered separately.)
Part A: Canadian Firearms Safety Course: (This course is a prerequisite for part B) This part of the training is now delivered through Hnatiuk's Hunting and Fishing Limited the new joint program administrator, coordinating and providing both the Canadian Firearms Safety Training Courses and the Hunter Education Courses throughout Nova Scotia.
Part B: The Hunter Education Course: Hnatiuk's Hunting and Fishing Limited
To take the course, you must
- be at least 12 years old, and
- have a Canadian Firearms Safety Course Test Certificate. (See #1 above).
Applications for this Hunter Education Course are available from any of the Local or Area Offices of the Department of Natural Resources, or online www.hmcgroup.ca/education

Your Wildlife Resources Card which shows your certification will be sent to you within 2-3 months, once you have successfully
completed both the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (Part A) and the Nova Scotia Hunter Education Course (Part B), in that order, and have met all the requirements.

Expiry and Renewal: |
|
The Wildlife Resources Card, displaying your Hunting/Furharvesting Certification is valid for five (5) years, and can be renewed.
