Weight Tolerances and Transition Plan

Vehicle Weights and Dimensions Regulations

Vehicle weights and dimensions changes were made on December 18, 2006.

Further changes to the vehicle weights and dimensions regulations were made on July 20, 2007.

Proposed Atlantic Overdimensional Special Move Permit Conditions

Comments Requested

The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, jointly with the transportation departments in the other three Atlantic Provinces, has developed a proposal for the establishment of uniform special permit conditions for the movement of indivisible overdimensional vehicles and loads within Atlantic Canada and within Nova Scotia.

The proposal also includes standards for escort vehicles and specifications for warning devices.

A draft Escort Vehicle Drivers’ Handbook is also presented for comments.

Included in the documentation is a report that summarizes the implications and required changes by each province.
