Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal
Return of Boat Harbour to a Tidal Estuary

Boat Harbour Stabilization Lagoon in March

Located in Pictou County (Nova Scotia), the Boat Harbour project is an undertaking by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal to return a former wastewater effluent stabilization lagoon back to a natural tidal estuary. The lagoon is being used as part of the Boat Harbour Treatment Facility to process effluent from a local bleached kraft mill. With updated treatment processes now available, this portion of the treatment facility will be decommissioned.
