Located in Pictou County (Nova Scotia), the Boat Harbour project is an
undertaking by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal
to return a former wastewater effluent stabilization lagoon back to a natural
tidal estuary. The lagoon is being used as part of the Boat Harbour Treatment
Facility to process effluent from a local bleached kraft mill. With updated
treatment processes now available, this portion of the treatment facility
will be decommissioned.
