Tourism Marketing Opportunities Program
The Tourism Marketing Opportunities Program provides cooperative marketing assistance for promotional initiatives which clearly support the implementation of the Nova Scotia strategic tourism priorities identified in the 2009 Tourism Plan. This program is comprised of two components:
The overall objective of this funding program is to work with industry to strengthen Nova Scotia’s tourism brand and increase out-of-province tourism visitation and revenues for Nova Scotia.
Background
Nova Scotia’s multi-year tourism strategy, New Realities, New Directions, is based on three pillars (download available at www.novascotia.com/partners):
- The Courtship Strategy focuses on luring customers, using various media venues and direct marketing, to the official tourism website at novascotia.com or to request the Doers’ and Dreamers’ guide via Check In Nova Scotia;
- The Gateway Strategy focuses on developing and enhancing our strategic partnerships and in particular further strengthening awareness in our key gateway markets;
- The Core Experiences Strategy focuses on tactics aimed at growing and developing our core experiences which bring Nova Scotia’s distinctiveness to the customer.
Funding
The two distinct funding components delivered through the Partnerships section of the Tourism Division are:
- Festival and Events Assistance Program: Provides marketing assistance towards the promotion of festivals and events that celebrate the culture, heritage, spirit and maritime identity of Nova Scotia – components of our key brand attributes.
- Tourism Marketing Assistance Program: Provides marketing assistance to promotional projects that fit with the priorities of the annual Tourism Plan. These projects may be multi-regional or provincial in scope.
