Tourism Marketing Opportunities Program

Description:
The Tourism Marketing Opportunities Program provides funding to promotional initiatives that clearly demonstrate their ability to influence the implementation of the provincial strategic tourism priorities. This program consists of two separate components - Tourism Marketing Assistance and Festival & Events Assistance.

Tourism Development Investment
Description:

The Planning and Development section of the Tourism Division provides tourism development and planning support, including financial assistance and guidance to communities; assistance in developing the market-readiness of Nova Scotia’s most competitive tourism products, destinations, and attractions; development and distribution of “How To” tourism development publications designed to assist entrepreneurs and tourism operators; and tourism policies, including developing and supporting government policy that assist in the growth and competitiveness of Nova Scotia’s tourism sector.

The annual priorities for development support and assistance are set as part of the Department’s Annual Tourism Plan. The continuing theme of “New Realities, New Directions” highlights the changes facing Nova Scotia’s tourism industry and the importance of developing competitive and sustainable tourism experiences. Experiences that appeal to a new type of visitor.

Visitor Information Services (VIS) Enhancement Program
Visitor Information Kiosk Development

This program will enhance visitor servicing in communities through the development of visitor information kiosks. The VIS Enhancement Program will help communities use the department’s “How-to” Visitor Information Kiosk Kits to construct outdoor kiosks - providing visitors with 24/7 travel information year-round.

Who can participate: Non-commercial, not-for-profit organizations such as local development associations, municipalities and industry associations, boards of trade, chambers of commerce or other entities undertaking not-for profit initiatives; the appropriate regional tourism industry association must endorse funding requests.

Tour Operator Partnership Program

The Tour Operator Partnership Program provides funding to tour operators who have the potential and the demonstrated ability to deliver visitors to Nova Scotia. Funding is provided for marketing initiatives which complement Nova Scotia's strategic tourism priorities and which focus on incremental development of the Nova Scotia tourism market.
