Travel Packages and Travel Deals

The Travel Packages and Travel Deals is a FREE e-marketing program that allows tourism operators to enter travel packages and travel deals through an online manager to be displayed on novascotia.com. Travel packages and/or travel deals will be featured throughout novascotia.com including the Travel Packages or Travel Deals pages, the operator's listing, and if applicable within core experience pages. To begin entering your Travel Packages/Travel Deals in the online manager you must first register as a user. When approved as a user, you will receive a confirmation email and you can begin entering your Travel Packages/Travel Deals at your convenience.

Program Cost
There is no cost or limit to the number of Travel Packages and/or Travel Deals in which tourism operators can display on novascotia.com

Travel Package Criteria To qualify as a Travel Package on novascotia.com your package must illustrate the following and at a minimum, it must include two of the following:

  • transportation
  • accommodations
  • meals
  • tickets to events or attractions
  • guided tours
  • activity or experience such as cooking, music instruction, wine tasting, storytelling, painting, writing, photography, spa services, golf...the list is endless

In addition, please note:

  • the package description must explicitly state what is included in the package (i.e. # of days/nights, # of meals, # of tickets/admissions, etc.) and what is not included (such as taxes and gratuities)
  • the package price must be stated per person, per couple or per family of # and, for accommodation providers, identify whether it is based on single, double or family occupancy
  • the cancellation and refund policy must be included
  • preference is for packages to include pictures in keeping with the package theme rather than business logos
  • there must be one point of purchase for the guest to book all components of the package (the point of purchase business/organization must book the other components on behalf of the guest)
  • if the package requires a minimum number of guests, this should be noted in the description (i.e. for the package to run a minimum of 10 guests are required). In this situation, the date at which the package will be cancelled if sufficient quantity is not sold must be noted
  • the dates during which this package is available must be stated
  • you are encouraged to include a creative, attentiongetting title and up to 1,000 characters of descriptive copy for your package (package components should be bulleted)

Travel Deal Criteria
Travel Deals are pricing opportunities and could include accommodations, meals, events or activities promoting a single product. This is an opportunity for your business to develop sales in the off-season, during slow periods, or to sell off excess capacity through price incentives. Examples of Travel Deals may include:

  • Buy one, get one free
  • % discounts off the normal price
  • Free items, giveaways or value-added items such as a free bottle of wine, appetizer, etc.

There are new requirements for accommodation properties to be included in the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage (TCH) Tourism marketing and partnership programs, such as the Doers’ and Dreamers Travel Guide and www.novascotia.com.
