The Heritage Division provides a variety of heritage programs and services.
It operates the Nova Scotia Museum family of 27 provincial museums, and maintains the provincial collection of artifacts and specimens.
It is responsible for providing heritage services mandated by legislation. This legislation includes the Nova Scotia Museum Act, the Sherbrooke Restoration Commission Act, the Special Places Protection Act, the Cemeteries Protection Act, and Heritage Property Act. All of these laws were developed to protect Nova Scotia's rich natural and cultural history.
The Division is also tasked with the effective promotion and development of Nova Scotia's rich heritage.
