The Senior Conservator, part of the Heritage
Promotion & Development team, provides advice, training and
support to staff in the conservation, preservation, handling,
and transport of artifacts and specimens included in the provincial
collection, managed for the people of Nova Scotia by the Heritage
Division.
The Senior Conservator develops treatments for artifacts, or
approves treatments developed by other conservators for application
to artifacts in the provincial collection.
The Senior Conservator develops policy and standards for the
handling, display and storage of artifacts. The Senior Conservator
provides advice to community groups and individuals on issues
related to the conservation of collections of artifacts and
specimens and can also refer individuals to private conservators
throughout the province.
