Registry of Motor Vehicles - Cancellation of Vehicle Registration

Registration may be cancelled and plates ordered returned to the Registry of Motor Vehicles as provided under the Act.

Motor vehicle permits may be revoked or suspended:

  1. when the Registry determines that the vehicle is unsafe or unfit to be operated, or is not equipped as required by law

  2. when the vehicle is used for any unlawful purpose or when the owner permits it to be used by a person not entitled to use it

  3. when the owner's driver's licence has been suspended or revoked
