The province is revising its Motor Vehicle Inspection process to bring it more inline with national and international programs. The revisions will be implemented in two stages, the first to begin April 1 with the final changes after June 1, 2009.
The re-designed program reduces the burden on vehicle owners without compromising road safety or consumer protection.
Program Highlights
- New vehicles purchased on or after April 1,2009, do not require an inspection for the first three years provided the dealer completes a pre-delivery inspection
- All other vehicles are still required to be inspected before the inspection sticker expires. However, as of April 1, 2009, once the vehicle passes inspection, an inspection sticker will be placed on the vehicle that will be valid for two years.
