Your Energy Rebate - What's New

Change in the eligibility status of some mixed use properties

The eligibility status of some mixed use properties was changed as of Tuesday October 14, 2008 to correct eligibility status errors noted by the home heat industry. This change means some properties previously receiving the 8% rebate at point of sale are now required to submit an application. See Rebate Application Form.

This change ensures only properties with a 100% residential taxable status receives the point of sale rebate at the time of delivery.

Electricity Used for Heating

  • The electricity portion of the Your Energy Rebate Program is being refocused on electricity used for heating. As a result, effective September 1, 2008 only electricity used over a threshold of 27.4 kilowatt hours per day times the number of days on the bill on or after September 1, 2008 will be eligible for the rebate.

  • The base charge is longer be eligible for the rebate.

  • The rebate on domestic service rates for residential customers has resumed as of September 1, 2008 for electricity consumption in excess of the threshold.

Rebate Calculation

To calculate your electrical home heating rebate, see the Rebate Calculator .

Will I receive a rebate on the residential electricity consumed from May 15, 2008 until September 1, 2008?

There were no rebates on electricity for residential consumers being charged the domestic service rate on power used on or after May 15, 2008 and before September 1, 2008. The impact of the temporary suspension on the average household was less than $10 per month.

Did these changes affect the rebate on other energy types?

No, there was no affect on heating oil, natural gas, propane, kerosene, firewood, wood pellets and coal.
