Your Energy Rebate - General Public
If you pay the household energy bills, you may qualify for Your Energy Rebate.
How do I get the rebate for my home heating oil, propane, natural gas, firewood or
electricity delivered to my home?
If your property assessment indicates 100% “residential taxable”, your bulk vendor of home
heating oil, propane, natural gas or firewood will deduct your rebate from your bill. For
electricity, if your rate code is a residential code, your power provider will deduct your rebate
from your bill.
Program changes announced in the April 29, 2008 Budget
The electricity portion of the Your Energy Rebate Program is being refocused on electricity
used for heating. As a result, effective September 1, 2008 only electricity used on or after
September 1, 2008 that exceeds a threshold of 27.4 kilowatt hours per day times the number
of days on the bill on or after September 1, 2008 will be eligible for the rebate. The base
charge will no longer be eligible as of May 15, 2008.
The rebate on domestic service rates for residential customers has resumed as of September 1, 2008 for electricity consumption in excess of the threshold.
For more details about the rebate on domestic service rates for electricity, go to the “What’s New” page.
If your property is assessed as partly residential taxable you may still qualify for a rebate. You will have to apply as a mixed use property. See Application Form Landlord and/or Mixed Residential/Commercial Application for Your Energy Rebate.

I'm a homeowner and I am no longer receiving the rebate on the delivery slip left by my energy provider when they delivered my fuel. What do I do?
If your property assessment is not 100% “residential taxable”, it is a mixed use property. This means you must apply for your rebate. Your property may be one of the properties that was incorrectly programed into the tool your energy supplier uses to determine if a property is eligible for a point of sale rebate. The tool has been updated and now reads correctly.
Please use Application Form Landlord and/or Mixed Residential/Commercial Application to apply for your energy rebate.
How often can I apply for the rebate for other home energy products?
You can apply once you have spent $375, before taxes, in purchases of energy products
(equal to a $30 rebate). Otherwise, a rebate claim may be made for any amount if the claim
period covers at least 12 months. You have up to 24 months to apply from the date of purchase of the
