Stillbirth Registration

Who Needs This Registration?
Any parent, hospital medical records director and/or funeral director who is involved with a stillbirth in Nova Scotia.

Where can you get this Registration and / or further information?
Any Local Division Registrar of Births and Stillbirths properly authorized by the Government of Nova Scotia.  These can be reached through the Medical Records Director at your local hospital.
Application Process:
The parent receives the Stillbirth Registration form at the hospital and completes the demographic information.  The attending physician completes the medical cause of stillbirth and then gives the completed form to the hospital Medical Records Director. [Note: a burial permit will also be required.]

The Local Division Registrar of Births and Stillbirths then forwards the registration to the Vital Statistics Office of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations.
