Anyone who wants to be authorized to issue marriage licences in Nova Scotia.

Application Forms & Process:
Application can be made to the Deputy Registrar General at the Vital Statistics Office (see above), who then forwards the application to the Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. It must be approved by the N.S. Executive Council [Provincial Cabinet].

If approved, the appointment is forwarded to Vital Statistics Office, and the Registration will be sent to the applicant by mail.

Waiting Period:
6 - 8 weeks, provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received.

This certificate does not expire (although it can be revoked for just cause.)

Vital statistics is responsible for the training and supplying of Deputy Issuers of Marriage Licences. .
