Local Division Registrar of Deaths: Registration

  Licensed Funeral Directors who are appointed to register deaths and issue burial permits.

Application Process:
  Applicants must hold a valid Funeral Director's Licence issued by the N.S. Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.

The above office will accept applications from licensed Funeral Directors for the position of of Local Division Registrar of Deaths.  Call the office above for details.  The N.S. Deputy Registrar General of Vital Statistics must approve all applications and will issue a certificate to the Division Registrar.

Waiting Period:
  10 business days
Provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received
(Please allow several extra days for mail delivery.)

Expiry and Renewal:
  This registration does not expire.
Related Requirements:
  Division Registrars for Deaths must hold a valid Funeral Director's Licence issued by the N.S. Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, and a certificate of good standing issued by the N.S. Deputy Registrar General of Vital Statistics.
Additional Information:
  The Vital Statistics Section, Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, is responsible for the training and supplying of Division Registrars in Nova Scotia and the provision of supplies.
