The group wanting this permit must first be approved under the Litter
Clean-Up (Adopt-a-Highway) Permit. They can then apply to any District
or Area Office of the N.S. Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal
for the permit itself.
The Women's Institutes of Nova Scotia coordinate the activities of all
participating community groups.
Before you apply for the permit, read the conditions and suggestions.

Each time a cleanup is performed (usually twice per year in the spring
and fall), a new permit must be obtained from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.
The Department will provide:
(a) garbage bags
(b) vests, if needed
(c) signage
(d) traffic control, if needed
(e) and pick up the filled garbage bags.
