| Who Needs This
Licence? |
Any individual or firm who wants to operate a commercial vehicle
weighing 26,000 lbs. or more, and who resides in a province or state which
has implemented the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA).
Note: Nova Scotia has implemented
the IFTA.

Write, phone, fax or visit the address listed above.
The completed application is submitted to the Department, along with
the applicable fee (see Price below).
When all questions are answered, and all fees paid the application
is approved and the licence and decals will be mailed to the applicant.

| Waiting Period:
|
The application is normally processed within 2 - 3 days, once
all items which must accompany the application have been received and
all requirements are met.
(Please allow several extra days for mail delivery.)

| Expiry & Renewal:
|
This licence is valid for up to 1 year, and expires on December
31. The Department will send a renewal form to the licence holder before
the licence expires.

Initial Application per company: $27.21
Annual Renewal per company: $27.21
Decals Fee Per Year per vehicle: $10.90
Note: Please pay by cheque or
money order made out to the Minister of Finance.

| Additional Information:
|
If a carrier is a member of IFTA and has acquired a new vehicle,
but is unable to pick up their permanent decal, a 30-day temporary decal
can be issued by fax from the Business Regsitration Unit.
Carriers who are not members of IFTA must pay trip permit fees to
enter Nova Scotia. The fees are collected at the point of entry, and
are based on the distance to be travelled in the Province on that trip.
