Tire Retailer Registration Certificate

Who Needs This Certificate?

Any business that wants to sell new on road tires in Nova Scotia.

Application Forms & Process:

To obtain this Certificate, you must first call RRFB Nova Scotia. Your business information is then taken over the phone and recorded on the RRFB Nova Scotia registration system. Within 7 to 10 days, 2 copies of the Industry Stewardship Agreement will be mailed to you. Both copies of the Industry Stewardship Agreement must be signed and dated. One copy is kept for your own records and the other is mailed back to RRFB Nova Scotia. Once RRFB Nova Scotia receives the signed Stewardship Agreement, you become a Registered Tire Retailer.

NOTE: If you submit your application by fax, you must also send the original signed copy by mail to RRFB Nova Scotia.

Once your signed and dated Stewardship Agreement has been received by RRFB Nova Scotia, a final package will be sent to you including your Certificate, monthly remittance forms and information on the Tire Program.
 

Waiting Period:
The Certificate is normally processed within 3 weeks, once all items which must accompany the application have been received, and all requirements are met.
 
Expiry & Renewal:

This Certificate does not expire, however, if the business is sold or transferred, you must re-register, because the registration is non-transferrable.

Additional Information:

When new tires are purchased in Nova Scotia from a registered tire retailer, a $3.00 environmental fee per passenger vehicle tire (all rim sizes) and light truck tire not exceeding 17" rim size and $9.00 for all highway truck, tractor and trailer tires not exceeding 24.5" rim size is charged to cover the costs of collecting and processing used tires.
