Needs This Licence? |

A Licence Plate must
be attached to any vehicle traveling on a public road in Nova Scotia,
and also to off-highway vehicles (ATVs, snowmobiles, etc.). On cars,
vans, other light vehicles, the plate is attached on the back; on heavy
commercial vehicles, it is attached to the front.
If your vehicle is issued 2 plates, both plates must be displayed.
In Nova Scotia, there is no special process for getting a licence plate.
One is given to you when you get a Vehicle Permit.

Nova Scotia Licence Plates are assigned to the applicant,
not to the vehicle itself. So, when you get a different vehicle, you can
take your licence plate off the old vehicle and put it on the new vehicle.
(However, within 30 days, you have to get a new Certificate
of Registration and a new Vehicle Permit from
the Registry of Motor Vehicles. For information on Identification
Requirements, please visit the Registry of Motor Vehicles website.
If your licence plate is damaged, stolen or goes missing, you need to get
