| Who Needs This Permit? |

Subdivision approval is required in order to subdivide or
consolidate a piece of land in the District of Argyle. Subdivision approval
is required to ensure that all subdivision and consolidation satisfies and
conforms with the Land Use Bylaw, Subdivision Bylaw, and relevant Environment
and Labour requirements. It applies to anyone undertaking a subdivision
or lot consolidation. |

| Application Forms & Process: |

An application for subdivision approval may be obtained from
the Town Office. Application is made to the Development officer, and must
include a plan of subdivision prepared by a Nova Scotia land surveyor. |

Thirty (30) day time frame or longer, depending on the complexity
of the subdivision. |

Applicable Registry of Deeds Fees: $150.00
(This includes:
Registration of Notice of Approval of a Plan of Subdivision: $70.00,
Registration of Plan of Subdivision: $70.00, and
One Certified Copy of Plan: $10.00)
Registration of Deed: $70.00
Payment can be made by cash, cheque or money order, made out to the Municipality
of the District of Argyle.

The following approvals may be required before a Subdivision
Approval can be granted:
All new lots must meet the frontage and area requirements of the District
of Argyle Land Use Bylaw.
Separate approvals will be required dealing with water, sewage disposal,
roads and road access.
You may require approval for the installation of an Sewage Disposal System
[or septic tank] from the Nova Scotia Environment and Labour.
Sometimes deeds and affidavits of value are required.
Some situations require engineering designs;
