Refuse Licence

Who Needs This :Licence?
  Anyone who wants to operate a business hauling garbage and refuse to municipal landfill sites.  No person shall engage in the business of removing or collecting garbage, ashes, cleanings and refuse, or similar materials within the Municipality unless they hold a license from the Municipality for that purpose.  Licenses will be limited to a maximum of ten (10) for the entire Municipality of Yarmouth.

Application Forms & Process:
  Applications may be obtained from the Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Municipality of Yarmouth. Applicants will receive written notice, if approved.

Expiry & Renewal:
  This permit is valid from April 1 of one year until March 31 of the next. It can be renewed, the Municipality will send out a renewal notice, to current licence holders, around March 1 each year. Renewal is dependent upon on re-inspection of vehicles by the Bylaw Enforcement Officer.
Related Requirements:
 
  1. The provincial registration number of all vehicles to be used by the applicant in their business must be included on the application.
  2. Proof of liability insurance for each vehicle not less than $1,000,000.
  3. Evidence that each vehicle has been safety inspected within one month before the date of the application.
