Crane Operator: Certificate of Qualification

Who Needs This Certificate?
Anyone who wants to be certified to operate Mobile Cranes, Boom Trucks, Overhead Travelling Cranes or Tower Cranes.

Application Forms & Process:
You can download an application form or you can get one from the Office listed above. It is submitted to the same Office, along with the appropriate fee (see Price & Payment, below...) 

In order to get this certificate, you must: 

1) Have Grade 11 or equivalent. 
2) Have enough hours of actual operating experience.  For more on this, see the Crane Operators Regulations

3) Then you must pass a practical (operating) test. Contact the office to find out where this can be done. (See Where you can get..., above) 

4) Then you must pass 2 written examinations. Before you can take those examinations, your application must be reviewed by the Chief Examiner, who gives the approval to write the exams. 

5) If you pass the exams (the pass score is 65% on each of them), the certificate will be granted.
Waiting Period:
Approval to write the exams takes approximately 1 month, provided that all required information and fees have been received.
Expiry & Renewal:
This certificate is valid for 1 year from the date it is issued. It can be renewed. It is the responsibility of the Certificate holder to contact the Department before it expires.

Re-marking of exams: $35.81

Oral Exams: $71.63
