Boilers and Pressure Vessels: Certificate of Inspection

 
Who Needs This Certificate?
In Nova Scotia all boilers and pressure vessels must be inspected at regular intervals as prescribed by the Chief Inspector. In addition, all repairs to boilers, pressure vessels, high pressure piping systems and refrigeration plants, need to be inspected.

Application Forms & Process:
An inspection request is made to Labour and Workforce Development. If all requirements are met and the request is approved (subject to inspection), the certificate will be sent to the applicant by mail.
Waiting Period:
5 to 10 business days
Provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received.
Expiry & Renewal:
This certificate does not expire; however, re-inspection by the Province of Nova Scotia is required on a regular basis.

Sliding Scale, dependent upon the size and type of unit

As per applicable American Society of Mechanical Engineers Codes and Standards as well as related CSA Standards.
