Anyone in Nova Scotia who operates boiler, refrigeration and/or
compressor plants needs this registration to determine the size of plant,
and the corresponding staffing requirements for Power Engineers.

| Application Forms & Process: |
An application form can be obtained from the Public Safety
Divison, Power Engineers Section of Labour and Workforce Development . When completed,
it is submitted to the Power Engineers Section of the Department.
The Inspector/Examiner will review and set out class(es) of staffing requirements.
If all requirements are met and the application is approved, the registration
will be sent to the applicant by mail.

Initital Registration: 15 business days
Renewal: 10 business days
Provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received
|
| Expiry & Renewal: |
This certificate is valid for a period of 1 year from
the date of issue or from the date of the most recent renewal.

Initial application, annual renewal and replacement: $173.85
Hourly rate for requested special services for plant registration: $86.93
|
| Related Requirements: |
1) Indirectly - Labour and Workforce Development will be involved with such factors as
plant emissions / fuel supplies, etc.
2) If PROPANE is utilized, Labour and Workforce Development:
Office of the Fire Marshal,
may be involved.
3) Boilers and
Pressure Vessels: Certificate of Installation, Building, Fire and Technical Safety Division
of Labour and Workforce Development.
