1) Anyone who wishes to provide liquor service at private functions such as weddings, anniversaries, banquets where liquor is given away, and,
2) Groups who wish to provide liquor service for private or public events to be used as community fundraisers where liquor will be resold.

2) Or phone, visit, write or e-mail one of the contact sources
listed above. The appropriate application form will be supplied
by mail, or may be picked up by the applicant.
An applicant can request a special occasion liquor licence application by phone, fax, mail, downloading from this website, or visiting the Alcohol and Gaming Division offices. Applications can also be obtained from any Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation location. The application is reviewed by staff to ensure it is completed in its entirety. After the review is complete, the applicant is issued the appropriate licence, or notified of its denial. |

"Special Occasions" are grouped into 3 classes:
Class I: For private events where liquor is given away, not sold.
Class II: For private events where liquor is re-sold.
Class III: For public events where the resale is used as part of a community fundraiser.
Special permits from the N.S. Liquor Corporation: Beverage alcohol,
besides being purchased to be consumed socially, is also used for medicinal
and health purposes, for flavouring or condiments in food preparations,
and for specially designated religious ceremonies. All of these
activities require a permit from the N.S.
Liquor Corporation. These special permits cover: Physicians,
Nursing Homes, Food Industry and Food Manufacturers, Pharmacists, Mechanical
& Scientific uses, Dentists, Hospitals and Sacramental Wine.
In addition, liquor suppliers and manufacturers operating in Nova Scotia
must be registered with the Corporation. These include private Retail
outlets, manufacturing sites, warehousing sites, and special operations,
such as: Hospitality rooms, Brew pubs, Farm Winery outlets, Special
