Anyone who wants to get a Canadian
(Firearm) Possession and Acquisition Licence, or a Minor's
Licence; or
Anyone who wants to prove knowledge of firearms and firearms safety
laws. (For example, to qualify to take the Nova Scotia Hunter Education
Course.)

It is recommended that applicants
be at least 12 years old.
The applicant contacts their local Nova Scotia Community College, and
their name is placed on a list for courses and tests (or tests alone).
They will be notified in advance of the next courses/tests which are available.

Courses are scheduled based on
public demand. The usual waiting period is between 2 weeks to 2 months.

An applicant is not eligible for
this Course / Certificate if they are prohibited from possession of firearms.

This Certificate is not
needed for an (Adult) Possession Only Licence. It is, however, needed for
the Minor's Possession Only Licence.
These courses and tests are a pre-requisite for the Atlantic Provinces Hunter
Education Course (Part B), which is now provided by the N.S. Federation of Anglers
