Department of Natural Resources Travel In Woods During Woods Closure

Needs This Permit? |

Anyone who wants to travel on forest land while a travel ban
(woods closure) is in force. Woods closure / travel bans usually occurs
when the forest gets extremely dry, and the hazard of fire is extreme.
The goal is to try to reduce the risk of fire by keeping people out of
the woods.
A permit is not required by the owner of forest land or their servant,
agent or assigns.
During such bans, permission to travel in connection with industrial
operations may be granted.
Other exemptions may apply, depending on the location; contact your
local Area Office of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources for advice.

If all requirements are met, and the application is approved, the
permit can be issued over the counter or can be sent to the applicant
by mail.
