Prospector ID Card

| Who Needs This ID Card? |
| | Anyone who wants to register in Nova Scotia as a prospector.
A Prospector ID Card enables the holder thereof the right to prospect
in a preliminary way on ground open for prospecting, provided they have
the landowner's permission.
The work is restricted to prospecting:
- outcrop and float examination;
- line flagging;
- geological and topographical mapping rock;
- water and overburden sampling; and
- geophysical surveys.
A Mineral Exploration: Licence, and Mineral
or Treasure Trove: Excavation Registration , from the N.S. Department
of Natural Resources is needed if any surface disruption is contemplated.

| | An application form (Form #4 Application to Register As Prospector)
can be obtained from the Registry
of Registry of Mineral and Petroleum Titles of the N.S. Department
of Natural Resources (see above). When completed, it is submitted to the
same office.
If all requirements are met, and the application is approved, the applicant
will be presented with the ID card by the Registry staff.

A prospector must have a copy of the Mineral Resources Act.

A prospector must have the permission of the landowner.
- A Mineral Exploration: Licence and an
Excavation Registration from the N.S. Department
of Natural Resources is required if any surface disruption is contemplated.
- All work conducted pursuant to this Permit must be done in compliance
with the Occupational
Health and Safety Act, the Environment
Act, and all other pertinent legislation.
