Bow Hunting Stamp For Deer

Who Needs This Stamp?
Anyone who wants to hunt during the special open season for bowhunting deer in Nova Scotia. (For the dates of that season, see Expiry, below...)

Note:  The Maritime Centre is located at the intersection of Barrington Street and Spring Garden Road (the Aliant Building at the foot of Spring Garden).

Application Process:

No application form is needed. The Bow Hunting stamp can be purchased at any of the offices listed above.

You mus have a valid Wildlife Resource Card.

You must have valid Bow Hunting Certification.

You must have a valid Deer Hunting Licence.

If you have those requirements, then you can buy a Bow hunting Stamp . You stick that hunting stamp on the inside of the back cover of your Base Licence, and that turns it into a Bow Hunting Licence. Base Licence + Bow Hunting Stamp = Bow Hunting Licence .

Expiry:
This licence is valid for the length of the Special Open Season for Bowhunting Deer. This starts before the general open season on deer - on the last Saturday in September and lasts until the general open season begins.  It resumes again on the 2nd day after the general open season closes.  Hunting is not allowed in Nova Scotia on Sundays . Once the Special Open Season ends, this licence is invalid.

  1. You have to have a valid Wildlife Resource Card with Bow Hunting Certification.

  2. Base Licence for Hunting and Furharvesting; and

  3. Deer Hunting Licence
Additional Information:
  1. Bowhunters who fill their tag(s) in the Special Open Season for Bowhunting Deer cannot hunt for any more deer after that, either in the rest of the Special season or in the general open season.

  2. When you kill a deer, you must attach one of those tags to the deer, and then you must take the deer to a Deer Registration Station, so that the proper Deer Registration Form can be filled out, or you can register the deer using the online Deer Registration Form.  If the deer is registered online, the confirmation number must be written on the Base Licence and Deer Tag.  You can find a list of Deer Registration Stations in the Nova Scotia Hunting and Furharvesting Summary of Regulations

  3. Hunting is not allowed in Nova Scotia on Sundays.
