Consult the Nova Scotia Hunting and Furharvesting Summary of Regulations (which is available both in printed form and on the Department of Natural Resources website.)
 

An application form can be obtained from the nearest Local or Area Office or you can download a form from the N.S. Department of Natural Resources website or you can find it in the Nova Scotia Hunting and Furharvesting Summary of Regulations..

The applicant must be 12 years of age or older.

Applications received between August 1 and December 31 will be processed during the next calendar year. When a course date and location has been set you will be notified in time to attend that course.

Instructions on how to proceed with your application are explained on the application form.  When the application is complete, it is submitted to the Bowhunter Instructors Association of Nova Scotia along with the required fee.

You must successfully pass the Bowhunter Education Course (see Additional Information below).  

If all the requirements are met, and the application is approved, you will receive a Wildlife Resource Card by mail which indicates that you have Bowhunting Certification.  If you already have a valid Wildlife Resource Card, you will receive a new copy of your card by mail which indicates that you now have Bowhunting Certification.
 

Upon the successful completion of the Bowhunter Education Course, you will receive a temporary student registration card, which is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. Your permanent Wildlife Resources Card will be automatically sent to you within 2-3 months of taking the course.
 

The Wildlife Resource Card, displaying your Bowhunter Certification is valid for five (5) years, and can be renewed.
 

The course is conducted by the Bowhunter Instructors Association of Nova Scotia.
