Falconry Permit

| Who Needs This Permit? |
| | Any resident of Nova Scotia who wants to keep a bird of prey (raptor)
in their possession to use in the sport or business of falconry. (This
includes falcons, merlins, hawks, etc.)

| Application Forms & Process: |
| | The application information can be sent to the Wildlife Division of
the N.S. Department of Natural Resources. Before an application is made,
a two-year apprenticeship is required with a licensed falconer (2 years).
As well, a letter of recommendation from the NS Falconry Association should
be attached to the application. When completed, it is submitted directly
to the Wildlife Division at the contact address.
If all requirements are met and the application is approved, the permit
will be sent to the applicant by mail.

| Expiry & Renewal: |
| | This permit is valid for 3 years from the date it is issued. It can
be renewed; the renewal process is started by the Permit holder, who should
contact the Department before the Permit expires.

- An apprenticeship with someone who already has this permit is required
for 2 years.
- A letter of recommendation from the NS Falconry Association is required
along with the application. (A current contact person is Christopher
