Wildlife: Scientific Permit

Who Needs This Permit?
Anyone who wants to hunt, capture or export -- for scientific or educational purposes -- wildlife animals, nests or eggs that may not otherwise be legally taken in Nova Scotia.

Note: This permit is issued to persons doing scientific work, and who need to keep wildlife that people are not normally allowed to keep. There can be no financial gain to the permit holder.

Application Forms & Process:
The applicant must submit a research proposal to the Director of the Wildlife Management Division.

If all requirements are met and the application is approved, the applicant will be notified by the Director.

Waiting Period:
1 week

Expiry & Renewal:
This permit is valid for the period stated on it, which is variable. It can be renewed, and the renewal time is when it expires. The renewal process is started by the permit holder before it expires.
