Wildlife Parks Licence

Who Needs This Licence?
Anyone who wants to keep wildlife in captivity for display purposes in a private park in Nova Scotia.

Application Forms & Process:
An applications is made by letter to the Wildlife Division office of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources in Kentville.

An inspection is required before the licence can be approved. There are required specifications for cages and facilities.

The applicant will be notified by the Director of Wildlife if the licence is approved.

Waiting Period:
30 - 60 days, provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received.

Expiry & Renewal:
This licence is valid for 3 years from the date it is issued. It can be renewed, and the renewal time is 3 years from the date it was first issued. The renewal process is started by the licence holder before it expires.

Related Requirements:
  1. onformity with Municipal bylaws;

  2. Appropriate contact with the local branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
