Wharf Repair Permit - Submerged Crown Land (Excluding Bodies of Fresh Water)
Who Needs This Permit?
Anyone who wants to repair an existing wharf on submerged Crown land (excluding bodies of fresh water).

This Permit is not required if repairs are limited to the portion of wharf which is above the level of ordinary high water and there will be no increase in the size of the wharf.

Also, a permit is usually not required if the wharf is of a seasonal nature, such as stick and plank or floating and anchored above the ordinary high water mark.

Application Forms & Process:
An application form for a permanent structure on submerged crown land can be obtained from any Local or Area Office of the NS Department of Natural Resources.

When the application is completed, it is submitted to the same office, along with the Application fee.

If all requirements are met and the application is approved, the applicant will be notified by staff.

Waiting Period:
1 - 4 weeks, provided that all the items that must accompany the application have been received.

Expiry & Renewal:
This permit is valid for a specified time up to 3 years or for 1 year with automatic annual renewals (unless revoked or cancelled).

Price:  (HST is charged)

Initial Application and Annual Renewal:  $54.40 plus applicable tax (HST) *
