Certification? |
This is an achievement certification which verifies
that someone has completed the Food Handlers Education Program offered
by the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture or outside private agency.
Food handlers: Pursuant to the Nova Scotia Food Safety
Regulations, all new food establishments are required to have a minimum
of one trained foodhandler on site at all times and all existing food
establishments will be required to have the same as of November 1, 2007.
General public: Anyone who is interested can enhance their knowledge of
food safety by taking this course. |

Inquiries about the times and places of these courses
should be directed to one of the offices listed above. You
can download a Foodhandler
Education Course Registration Form from the Department of Agriculture
website. The
application form and fee must be received by the Food Safety Section
at least one week prior to the start date of the course. |
| Waiting Period: |
Usually 2-4 weeks, depending upon the availability of instructors
and the schedule of classes. |
| Expiry & Renewal: |
Upgrading is required every five years. |
