This Directory contains information on more than 519 licences, permits, registrations, certifications, and related services administered by 20 Departments and Agencies and some municipal units of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Directory explains who needs the permit, what agency issues it, where you can get it, how to apply, how much it costs, how long it takes to get it, when it expires, any related requirements and other relevant information.  The Directory also contains links to many forms and applications that you require to apply or to renew some permits and licences.  It also gives locations and phone numbers for some of the offices of those departments and agencies.

This Directory DOES NOT INCLUDE a complete list of all related federal or municipal licences, permits, registration, certifications, etc. that you may require for certain types of regulated activity.

A new section on permits and licenses administered by Nova Scotia's 55 municipalities, is gradually being developed. This Directory currently contains permit and licence information for the 27 municipalities listed on the index page. You can get permit and licence information for other municipalities by contacting the municipal office directly. See below. We are hopeful that more municipalities will join this effort, by contributing their information, because it will make the Nova Scotia Permits Directory even more useful to the public.
