Business Licence (Peddlar, Hawker, Trader, Transient Trader, Photographer, Exhibition and Automatic Vending Machine)

Who Needs This Permit?
  You need a licence from the Town of Yarmouth if you plan to operate as one of the following:
  • auctioneer
  • peddler
  • hawker
  • transient trader
  • photographer

You also need a licence from the Town of Yarmouth, to operate the following:

  • exhibition
  • automatic vending machine

Application Forms & Process:
  Upon payment of the applicable fee, the applicant receives a licence.
Waiting Period:
  Once the application has been received and reviewed by staff, the permit is issued within 7 to 14 days.
Expiry & Renewal:
  The permit is valid only for the time period specified on it. Once it expires, it is invalid, and you have to buy a new one.
Price & Payment:
  Different fees are applicable pursuant to the type of use or activity.
Related Requirements:
  Development Permit, and, if applicable, a Building Permit. In some cases a structural designer and/or an architect may be involved. You may also need a Building Plans Approval (Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal, Nova Scotia Environment and Labour).
