Anyone who wants to construct, locate, alter or change the
use of any building or structure within the Town of Yarmouth.
Note: Depending upon what you want to do, you may also need a Building
Permit.

A Development Permit application may be obtained from the
Development Officer, Town of Yarmouth.
If approved, the permit is mailed to the applicant.

| Waiting Period: |

The permit is normally processed within 30 business days,
once all items which must accompany the application have been received,
and all requirements are met. |
| Expiry & Renewal: |
| |
This Permit will expire if work has not begun within 6 months
of the date of issue. Once work has begun, it does not expire. |

The following permits or approvals may be required before
a Development Permit can be issued:
- Subdivision Approval (if applicable)
- Under certain circumstances, application and approval of a variance
may be necessary prior to the issuance of a development permit.
- Coast Guard Approval
- Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Transport Canada
- Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and Traffic Authority.
- Department of Environment.
- Surface run-off approval from from the Town Engineer.
